GOOD NEWS! The Beverage Tasting Institute 2019 International Review of Spirits Results Are In! Blue Wing Rye Is A Bronze Medal Winner.
Blue Wing Rye Whiskey was described as follows by the judges: Gold in color, with smokey aromas of iodine and smoked popcorn, with hints of Szechuan peppercorns, and Islay malt whiskey. It has a coarse, crisp, bone-dry light body, with a tobacco finish. A totally different rye whiskey akin to an Islay malt; heavy peat-like notes will delight seekers of unique drams.
Winning a Beverage Testing Institute award from Tastings is an impressive achievement. The award proves the quality, standard and excellence of a beverage by undergoing their rigorous, blind tasting test. Their principles are deeply rooted and launched the standards for blind, objective tastings for wine, beer and spirits in the US.
They were founded in 1981 and remain today as the only on going, annual alcohol review company.
Finding the highest quality spirits is the focus for their annual spirit review. They illuminate a distiller's craft and the distinct character of their spirits. Their blind tastings provide an objective, third party affirmation of a spirit's quality and taste and communicates this to consumers.
Competitors in the 2019 International Review of Spirits included entries from Weller, E.H. Taylor and Jim Bean along with many small craft distillers that have been in business for several years with much more experience than we have. To secure a Bronze medal with our first batch of whiskey that was aged just one year is a great acknowledgement that we are on to something here.
Friday 9/6/2019 the Riverfront Times sponsored a whiskey tasting event that we participated in at the Moto Museum. The event went very well with some saying the Blue Wing Rye Whiskey was the best whiskey featured. It was very rewarding to get the feedback that we got. I was humbled by the compliments, but then again, these people had been drinking.....
People loved the label and the history behind it.
Could not have asked for more out of this evening.
